Stagecoach service between Charlestown and to New Hampshire begins.

(May) Operated by Bartholomew Stavers, the “Flying Stage-coach” leaves Charlestown on Friday and takes two days to reach Portsmouth via Newburyport. It begins its return trip from Portsmouth on Tuesday. It is the first regular stagecoach service in today’s Boston. Additional stage coach lines to Salem and Marblehead begin operating in the next few years.
